A Brief History of Keuken van Elsje

Keuken van elsje is a restaurant that serves typical Dutch and Indonesian cuisine using family recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation.

The Keuken van Elsje restaurant opened in December 2016. The building used by Keuken van Elsje was once the family home of Elsje's grandparents, dating back to the 19th century. For decades, this beautiful building has been a silent witness to the Elsje family's journey and history.

Today, this historic residence has been lovingly and dedicatedly transformed by their children and grandchildren into a family restaurant that rekindles traditional values and cherished memories of the past. Despite its transformation, Keuken van Elsje faithfully maintains the building's original form, honoring the architecture and character of its past.

The Keuken van Elsje building has also been officially recognized by the Bandung City Department of Culture and Tourism and the Bandung City Government as a cultural heritage building. This recognition underscores the importance of maintaining and preserving this building so that it remains well-maintained and can be enjoyed by current and future generations.

Keuken van Elsje's presence as a family restaurant has not only captivated Bandung residents but has also attracted people from various regions, both within and outside the city. Even international tourists can't resist its charm and make time to visit. Keuken van Elsje has become a must-visit culinary destination for travelers visiting Bandung.

The uniqueness of this restaurant lies not only in its delicious food, but also in its warm and intimate atmosphere. Keuken van Elsje is a comfortable place to dine, while experiencing the historical touch that permeates every corner.

With the love and care cultivated by the Elsje family, this restaurant is a harmonious blend of past and present. Keuken van Elsje is not only a place to eat, but also a symbol of togetherness and the beauty of eternal cultural heritage.

At Keuken van Elsje, the food served has its history flowing from our first family restaurant.

According to my grandfather, several Indonesian national heroes often visited and enjoyed our family's specialties. Each dish we serve has the magic of evoking memories of the past and delivering unforgettable, authentic flavors, inherited from our recipes passed down through generations. We strive to make each dish a journey back in time, telling our stories, and hopefully, it can become a bridge connecting generations, cultures, and memories.

We combine love and dedication in every Dutch and Indonesian dish we serve here. The meats, fresh vegetables, and spices are carefully selected according to family recipes that have been preserved for years.

Chef Kevin, the fifth generation of our family, faithfully carries on this tradition. He cooks and preserves the authenticity of Grandma Elsje's recipes, maintaining the authenticity of our family's dishes.

For us, food is a way to bring people together and rekindle family bonds. Every visit to our restaurant is meant to be not only a culinary delight, but also a profound and memorable experience. We want you to experience the warmth and hospitality of our family, making you feel like you're part of our story.

We thank you for choosing Keuken van Elsje as your culinary destination. We hope your dining experience here will inspire you and leave you with unforgettable memories. Thank you again, and see you again at Grandma Elsje's!
